- Video content: the raw footage you capture and submit to us for editing
- Communications: any messages, emails, or notes you send us

- Cookies: we use minimal cookies to keep the site functioning. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information only for the following purposes:
- To fulfill your reservation: hand-delivering and collecting Equipment, communicating about your event, processing payment
- To edit and deliver your film: editing your raw footage and delivering the final product
- To communicate with you: answering questions, providing updates, and following up after your event
- To improve our service: understanding which parts of our website and service work well
- To comply with law: including tax records, legal obligations, and valid law enforcement requests
We do not sell your information to anyone. We do not use your footage or personal data for advertising or marketing without your explicit written consent.
4. How We Protect Your Information
We take your privacy seriously:
- Raw footage is stored on Google Drive Business with encryption at rest and in transit — an industry-standard secure cloud storage
- Access to raw footage is limited to the founder of Sakinah Studio and one trusted sister who assists with editing — no outside contractors or third parties
- All footage is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days of delivering your final film and raw files to you
- Payment information is processed through Stripe, a PCI-compliant provider; we never see or store your full card number
- Website traffic is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
- We review our security practices regularly and update as needed
5. Sharing Your Information
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: payment processing (Stripe), cloud storage (Google), email (Google Workspace). Each handles only the information needed to provide their service.
- Legal obligations: if required by subpoena, court order, or applicable law
- Business transfers: in the event Sakinah Studio is sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner — who would be bound by this Privacy Policy or one providing equivalent protections
- With your explicit consent: for any use beyond these categories, we will ask you first
6. Use of Your Footage in Marketing
We will never use clips, stills, or any identifiable footage from your event in our marketing, social media, portfolio, or any public-facing material without your written consent. If we would like to use any footage for marketing, we will send you a specific request describing exactly what we'd like to use and how. You may decline for any reason, and declining will not affect your rental or service.
7. Your Rights
As our client, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your information (subject to any legal retention requirements, such as tax records)
- Withdraw consent for any optional use of your information (such as testimonials)
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Opt out of any marketing communications at any time

9. Children's Privacy
Our services are directed to adults (18+) booking events. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Footage you submit may include minors who are participants in your event — this footage is treated with the same strict privacy protections as all other footage. If you believe we have collected information from a child without parental consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
10. Cookies & Analytics
We use essential cookies to keep the website functioning. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell cookie data.
If we use basic analytics (such as page views and traffic sources) in the future, we will use a privacy-respecting provider and aggregate data only. You may disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.
11. Data Retention
- Raw footage and edited films: deleted from our servers within 30 days of final delivery
- Booking records (names, emails, event details): retained for 3 years for tax and business continuity purposes, then deleted
- Payment records: retained for the period required by IRS and Illinois tax law (currently 7 years)
- Testimonials or consented marketing content: retained as long as relevant, or until consent is withdrawn
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email to active clients and posted on the website. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
