Rental Agreement

1. The Parties

This Rental Agreement (the "Agreement") is entered into between Sakinah Studio LLC ("Sakinah Studio," "we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Illinois, and you, the person placing the reservation (the "Client," "you," or "your").

2. What's Being Rented

The rental kit ("Equipment") consists of:

• One or two 4K UHD camcorders (as specified in your package)
• Batteries and charger
• One or two memory cards
• A padded carry bag
• A printed shot list guide

The Equipment remains at all times the property of Sakinah Studio. This Agreement grants a temporary rental, not a sale or transfer.

3. Rental Period

The rental period begins when Sakinah Studio hand-delivers the Equipment to you and ends 72 hours after your final event, unless a different period is specified in your package (for example, the 48-hour Aqeeqah window). Sakinah Studio collects the Equipment from you in person at the end of this window; all pickups and drop-offs are arranged directly between you and Sakinah Studio within Chicagoland and the surrounding suburbs.

Late returns: If pickup is delayed more than 48 hours beyond the agreed window because the Equipment is not made available, a late fee of $50 per day applies, up to a maximum equal to the replacement cost of the Equipment.

4. Payment & Booking

Reservation

You reserve dates by submitting the online reservation form and receiving confirmation from Sakinah Studio. No payment is required at reservation.

Deposit

A 50% deposit is due within 7 days of reservation confirmation to secure your dates. The remaining 50% is due 14 days before your first event.

Refunds

• Cancel 30+ days before event: full refund of deposit
• Cancel 15–29 days before: 50% of deposit refunded
• Cancel 14 days or fewer: deposit is non-refundable (due to equipment already reserved and preparation already underway)

In the case of a qadrAllah circumstance (death in the family, serious illness, etc.), please contact us directly — we will work with you compassionately.

5. Security Hold

A valid credit card must be kept on file throughout the rental period. Your card will not be charged unless the Equipment is lost, significantly damaged beyond normal wear, or not made available for pickup more than 48 hours past the agreed window.

6. Damage & Loss

We understand that wedding weeks can be chaotic. Small scratches, fingerprints, minor wear, and expected use are never charged.

For significant damage or loss, the following replacement fees apply:

• Significantly damaged camcorder (cracked lens, water damage, major drop, non-functional): maximum replacement fee of $350
• Lost or unreturned camcorder: maximum replacement fee of $700
• Lost memory card, battery, or charger: $25 each
• Damaged or missing kit bag: $25

These caps apply regardless of the actual repair or replacement cost — we absorb the difference.

7. Your Responsibilities

• Use the Equipment only for the events described in your reservation
• Do not submerge the camcorder in water, leave it in direct rain, or subject it to extreme temperatures
• Do not loan the Equipment to third parties outside your immediate family and event attendees
• Return the Equipment to its carry bag with all included accessories
• Have the Equipment ready and available for in-person pickup at the agreed time and place

8. Our Responsibilities

• Hand-deliver tested, charged, functioning Equipment 3–4 days before your first event, and collect it in person after your final event
• Provide clear instructions and a shot list guide tailored to your event type
• Be available via email for questions before, during, and after your event
• Edit and deliver your professional film within 6–8 weeks of receiving your Equipment back
• Deliver your organized raw footage within 10 days of receiving your Equipment back

9. Your Footage: Privacy & Use

Your raw footage is an amanah. We treat it accordingly:

• Raw footage is stored on encrypted drives accessed only by the founder of Sakinah Studio and one trusted sister who assists with editing — never outside contractors or third parties
• All footage is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days of delivery of your final film and raw files
• We will never use any clip, image, or identifying footage in marketing, social media, portfolio, or any public-facing material without your explicit written consent
• You retain full copyright and ownership of all footage of yourself, your family, and your event

Sakinah Studio retains ownership only of the edited film's technical edit structure (pacing, color grade, music choices); the underlying footage remains yours.

10. Editing Process

After I collect the Equipment:

1. Raw footage is delivered to you within 10 days via secure cloud link
2. We edit your film over 6–8 weeks
3. A draft is sent to you for one round of feedback (up to 2 revision requests, combined)
4. Final film is delivered as a downloadable high-resolution file

Additional revision rounds beyond the included two are available at $75 per round.

11. What We Cannot Guarantee

Because you and your loved ones control what is filmed, we cannot guarantee:

• That any specific moment will be captured (we provide a guide, but we're not physically present)
• The audio or visual quality of footage, which depends on usage
• Any specific artistic style the final edit matches beyond the general tone represented in our portfolio

We always do our absolute best to create a beautiful film from whatever footage is provided.

12. Limitation of Liability

Sakinah Studio's total liability under this Agreement is limited to the amount paid by you for the rental. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages of any kind (for example, emotional distress, lost opportunities, or the value of "unrepeatable moments"). This limitation is a condition of our ability to offer rentals at the accessible prices we do.

13. Disputes & Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute arising under this Agreement shall first be attempted to be resolved by good-faith direct communication. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Cook County, Illinois, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may instead bring an individual claim in a small claims court located in Cook County, Illinois, so long as the claim qualifies for that court and remains on an individual (non-class) basis. Both parties waive the right to trial by jury or participation in any class action.

14. Full Agreement

This Agreement, together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, constitutes the full agreement between you and Sakinah Studio. It supersedes any prior discussions, emails, or understandings. Changes must be made in writing and signed by both parties.
